'00 Monster OK?

I was struggling to justify a new Monster 1100 when my local Ducati dealer took in a 2000 Monster 900. It's not pristine. Average shape, but its been serviced & they'll throw on a front tire. They're asking $4,300. Should I have any reservations to jumping on it? Any quirks with the 2000 model year? I imagine I'd be giving up a 10-15% performance edge over a new Monster, but the savings is attractive.

I would not. Thats just me. Bikes come with tires, not thrown it to sweeten the deal?
If you want to save off of new, I would look at a 07 800M. Same power as a old 900, 7 years newer, SSSA, 7500 mile valve ajustments, and around $6500

One like this would be a bargen. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230516372574&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AVRI

OK, how about an '04S4R with 20K miles & recent valve adjustment for $4,400. The pic looks like it is liquid cooled - is this the old 996 4valve liquid cooled engine? I thought the monsters were all air cooled 2 valves.
