Replaced Camshaft position sensor on my 4.OL sohc in order to turn off check engine light Do I need to clear the code from the computer with the scanner or will just disconnecting the battery will keep the light off. any suggestions ?

Replaced Camshaft position sensor due to check engine light and OBD2 code PO340 present. after 2 weeks the light is back on with the same code. Do I need to reset the code with the scanner to remove the code from the computer. intially i just disconnected the battery to replace the the sensor...
