    It's not all the doing of unions, and only non-exempt hourly even get overtime pay, in California, at least. If you're exempt, and work overtime, if it's even authorised, you only get your normal hourly rate anyway.

    Why do so many people act like their tax refund is some sort of bonus instead...

    It's not a bonus, and it's an interest free loan to the government, but it sure beats having to pay.
