I have a Droid with Verizon Wireless. Out of the blue today, I was charged $9.99 for something called "Special Messaging". Does anyone know what that is?

I am trying to knit some little animals for my niece. Her name is Crickett, so I thought it'd be really neat to knit her a cricket! I can't seem to find a pattern for it. I'm a pretty new knitter, but any pattern will work. Thanks so much!
