    How could Lincoln declare all CSA slaves free if the south wasn't a part of the

    union anymore/? He issued the E.P on Jan 1. 1863, at that time the Civil war was still going on and the he had no power over the south at the time. The CSA president was J.Davis. How could he say all CSA slaves were to be free if he wasn't incharge?

    Is having ants in my fruit/vegetable garden a bad thing?

    If so, what do I do about them? They are relatively small (for ants) and I think they might be red and black. They are all over the place, and I don't want to use any pesticides in my garden. I use organic miracle grow vegetable garden soil

    Last night it rained for the first time since I planted my garden but I can't seem to find where that's registered on any weather websites (?) apparently they don't think it rained at all. Anyways what should I do to keep my garden from flooding and my plants dying? I do have about a foot deep...

    Wasn't there a General who switched sides during the Civil War?

    I'm not thinking of Benedict Arnold from the revolutionary war. I know I read something about a US general switching from the confederate side to the union side during the civil war but now I can't find anything about it.
