The 1000 is probably too much machine for a beginner. The Royal Enfield (if a real Enfield) suffers from the curse of poor electrics, but is otherwise a real nice smaller bike, plenty of go for the city but not really designed for superhighways. There is a knock-off Enfield being made these days...
