Try Craigslist. (But remember - cheap car usually = more $ for repairs.) Take it to a trusted mechanic before you buy it.
Don't bother. Dump him. (If you know he's cheating, why bother getting proof. If you're not sure, take it as a sign that you are afraid he is and get a new guy.)
