Yeah, some of the 80s Jetsons episodes were done on computer, although most were painted on cels. You can tell which ones were on computer by how horrible the animation is (technology wasn't as advanced back then)

I was really underwhelmed by the tacked-on conflict at the end of the episode, with the guy trying to kill Abe. It didn't feel at all genuine and it really distracted from the emotional core of the episode -- Homer (and the rest of the family) neglecting Grampa -- which had potential.

The Nick cartoon is rumored to be a remake of the original series, so I'd expect all the characters to be more similar to the 1987 version than anything else.
