I used all the car cheats through the story. Once I finished the main storyline I got all the achievements that were locked by cheats and now I just run around shooting stuff with RPGs and flying around in the shitty helicopter killing people.

Agreed. Much of the The Simpsons humor is visual. Take that away and half of the appeal of the story is lost. It would be like trying to do a novelization of Looney Tunes, Ed, Edd 'N' Eddy or Chowder.
