Is there a way to adjust the little shocks or something to keep my rear door from falling on my head every time I unload groceries on my 1988 Jeep Cherokee?

My hand lever for my emergency brake goes all the way up, and does absolutley nothing to hold vehicle. Is there an adjustment anywhere on lever? It's a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. Thank you in advance

I have replaced the thermostat, and the overflow tank which had a striped cap, but still overheating. I filled the overflow tank "since radiator doesn't have a cap", but it's just sitting there. When I let the engine run for a few minutes the engine definitely gets hot, but the hoses are still...
