We're using php. We wonder if we can set a timer to like 30 minutes, and then the server will run a php script once the timer runs out, even if there are noone on the site to load pages.(We're making a game like travian and wondering how to make the attacks like they are in travian)

We're developing a game, and we're considering not having e-mail vertification so that young people without an e-mail can play. What pros/cons does an e-mail vertification provide. And is image-vertification alone secure enough?
