    my engine a 454 chevy burns oil and is only noticable when i start it by blue smoke

    That is caused by a worn out set of valves as well as rings. More valves if left idling for five and plumes of smoke occur when you step on the gas. You need the engine rebuilt as the whole engine geneally wear out at the same time. I had a 454 in my old pontiac gran prix ....very fast
