Is there a code you dial to update your phones tower database? The coverage map says I should get service where I am but I don't. People have been saying to dial *22899 but it just said that the call could not be completed as dialed. Anyone know?

So i have a few speculations as to why there were some scenes left out from the book in the movie. can someone give me a little more insight on this? what is a scene or 2 that was/were in the book, but left out in the movie... and why it was left out... thanks. PS i read the book and watched...
