i scrapped mine off my 1987 honda shadow 700 cc. it'd be nice if a new one that i will purchase would bolt right up. other then that i heard about zip tie sort of deals? and the wiring will be kosher? anybody done this before?

this is my first bike and i don't know what to expect....how big of a difference does the cooling fan make? can you give me a basic run down on what to expect from these cooling systems? my motorcycle is getting close to the red and the fan still will not come on. that's not normal right...
