    Yes you can, it will need to be flashed to cricket. You unlock GSM phones like from AT&T or T-Mobile You flash CDMA Phones like from Sprint and Verizon. I've never heard of a 3 month expiration. I've seen phones that were locked for yrs, still have one that's going on 4 yrs.
