I do both, I following the manga version than watch the anime version to see how looks in motion with color and voices or if i've seen the anime version first then I read the manga to see the creator's original vision of the stroy.

Well, the 108 manga chapters can fit into 36 episodes if every episode consists of three chapters. There were a few parts that were not adapted and others stretched out a bit so it fits the episode order. The completed status of the manga is the main reason for the odd episode nuraber.
