I had this happen on a phone I flashed from sprint to Qwest (the 755p) and it wouldn't validate until i changed the SPC to match the ESN. If you have the original SPC, try changing it back and then doing it. I'm sure you are also going to have the internet set up to work on Cricket too.

does metro activate non metro esn's? i've heard conflicting reports on this. you might want to make sure before you do anything.
