    From what i gathered from a friend who did this with the old IOS 4 doing this DOES NOT bring the clock speed to 1ghz. It just removes the power management for downclocking when the processor is not in use.

    As far as i know, you have to call to get the ESN in their system and they will charge the activation fee (but if you put up a fight and ask to speak to the manager or something they could probably waive it). As for the wap, I don't think that anybody has gotten that to work on a flashed phone yet.
