    I would think the Germans. They had the best army on the planet and lost the war only because of poor leadership (aka Hitler's dumb moves) and being overpowered by greater manpower amongst the Allies.

    Americans like Bill O"Reilley and other ultra right wing extremists take great pleasure in belittling other countries. It somehow makes them feel superior. (Or perhaps they're just hiding their own inferiority complex).
