    If coolant level is right, check the hoses and the radiators and the water pump. Radiator can be partially clogged.

    I have a corolla that is running very well with 140K. It is giving me mid 30 miles per gallon without mechanical issues. I am not sure about the price of vehicle in your area. but 6500 seems a bit pricey for a 7 years old corolla, even if it is in perfect condition. Try search around...
