    A lender can not discriminate based on age or the fact that you are on a fixed income. I would refi instead of an equity line since most equity lines are variable rate & could go up. You need to call a lender & just find out what you will qualify for. Good luck!

    How does Cash For Clunkers help GM & Chrysler if most people bought foreign cars?

    LOL- I bought a 2009 Toyota Camry- I also looked at Ford. There was no way I was going to buy either GM or Chrysler after the way they ran their company into the ground. I actually didn't use the cash for clunkers program because my trade in didn't qualify- & I bought the Camry with 38k miles...
