I looked at the frequently asked questions and it says to click newer version at the top right corner but all i see is my username, help and settings. i dont see " newer version" anywhere. and i tried this on my friends computer and it worked fine, with chat showing up and everything but not on...

i went on my mom's computer on my gmail email account and the way you tell if ur contacts are online and the send chats bar was there. and when i went to my computer, none of that showed up. please tell me how to fix this problem
