    Radios and Cell Phones while camping, climbing, kayaking...etc.?

    Does 24-7 connectivity and communication make up for a person's lack of fundamental outdoor skills? If you couldn't get a cell signal or didn't have a radio, what would you do in the event of an emergency? Would you go into the wilderness anyway?

    Has anyone been hiking in the ADK High Peaks in the last week or so?

    Heading North in a couple days. Trail reports still say snow may be on the High Peaks and below 3000' on north and east facing trails. Just wondering if I'm gonna need the snowshoes? Climbing Marcy from the south after hitting the ADK Range from Lower Wolf Jaw through Haystack and Skylight. Thanks!
