My dad is giving me 250$ for my birthday to setup my 55g freshwater tropical fish tank. I am moving to NY in about 1 1/2 months but i wont be setting it up for another 4-5 months probably :( is 250$ enough to get the tank ( maybe a kit? ) filter, heater, gravel, fake/real plants, decorations...

The tank is too small, sell them and keep the 30g, you can use the 2g for fry but not for long. Good luck!
