    Are apps for the Itouch/Iphone free?

    No one has given me a straight answer yet, are the apps on a NON JAILBROKEN ipod touch or iphone free? If so how much are they usually? Do you have to pay monthly for them? If you jailbreak your itouch, will you get free apps? Thanx :)
