    In Pokemon Heart Gold, why did I get a Ratatta when I mated other pokemon?

    I mated a Flareon with a Ninetails and got a Ratatta when I hatched the egg and I don't understand why! It is the first time that has ever happened and I am just curious why. The same thing happened again when I mated 2 Torterras!
