I'm building a SS 29er im just wondering are 3/32" chains and 1/2" chains and the cogs/chain rings interchangeable?
Is there any combination of the two that would not work?

I'm looking into getting a new bike this summer and im not sure what to get. I have an old Nishiki road bike and I would like something that's a little more all-around.
My dilemma comes form wanting the ability to still have good speed on the road and be able to handle some light dirt trails...
