i actually have this phone! there is no way of changing this, i have been into many stores before and asked many employees they all tell me that you can't change it! sorry :(
you might be able too, i'm not too familair with the phone but i have the lg rumor2 and it also has a satus light. if you are able to take it off it will be in the display setting and there will be an option for status light.
