    85 Dodge Ram slant six?

    The engine starts and runs ok until it starts making a screaming sound. It doesn't seem to be a pully and is not a belt slipping. Could it be the smog pump? Can I remove the vacume lines and put plugs on the carbs air lines and will the engine still run ok?
