The factory wheels are 16' X 7.5". What are the widest tires I can put on them?

They are the same size as the factory installed wheels. What other vehicles will they fit?

What is a good way to lower it so that maybe the ride won't be so rough? I know the fact that it's a pickup causes it to ride hard, but I'm thinking without the lift, it won't be so bad. It sits app. 12 in. above the tires.
