    HELP how do I record a tv program on a DVD disk in my DVD player?

    when I insert a DVD disk into my DVD player and hit power the television program disappears from the screen.. I want to record a program on TV and I am just not getting how to do this.. I am thinking maybe I need to add some wiring from the DVD player to the TV. HELP thanks
