it sometimes wants to start but doesn't and then other times it starts right up. I have a brand new battery too. Can anyone help?

How can you tell if the ignition switch is bad or not? Sometimes it seems like i have to pump the gas to get it started. I'm so lost on why the truck only starts sometime and not other times. Can you help me?
