    My filipina friend puts salt on the lid of the pan when cooking rice on the stove.?

    She claims that it helps the rice in the pan cook more evenly. Now just to clarify she does not add salt to the rice itself she puts it on the lid of the pan. Does anyone have anything to say about this? Does this help or is it just silly?
