So, you are trying to see if it will break while you are driving and cause you to crash? Have a mechanic inspect the front end for damage and /or worn bushings. The upper control arm bushings can cause these kinds of noises.
I am assuming you mean a 4 cylinder car as opposed to 4 liter car. The biggest difference would be in how you drive the car and what you use it for. The V6 engines of today can get very close to 4 cylinder mileage, yet they have more power and torque to move you about. They tend to fare better...
Factory installed or aftermarket? Bolted on or glued? Brake light in it or not?
The answer to these questions would determine how hard it is to remove.
