I can hook you up with a link to Desire if you want - that's a pretty bloody good album. Blonde On Blonde and Blood On the Tracks (both of which I don't yet have) are two of his most famous ones, so I'd say go for those as well.

I agree with your rationale behind the whole Birdland / Manic Street Preachers thing. I saw Birdland a couple of times in the early 90s and their live shows were always a riot - in fact I nearly got my head taken off by their guitars during a particularly enthusiastic end of set instrument...

Just ordered tickets for Alexisonfire, Moneen, and Arkells on June 18. Show is like 10 minutes away and it's really rare for bigger banRAB to venture into my neck of the wooRAB. Pretty excited about it.
