    The dark sound of metal?

like Perfection said, Metal obtains a "dark" or "frentic" sound from the use of minor or diminished keys, and use of phrygian, loquidian, mixolodian modes (and others whos name escape me). Distortion also helps as the higher the gain, the harder it is to tell individual strums and it creates a...

If you have "The Devil, You + Me", that would be great. I also don't have "Nook" or their self-titled album.

Breaking the Mold: Why I Learned to Like G Gundam

I'm a little hazy on the details, but basically the episode with Jester Gundam explains that Chibodee has a crippling fear of clowns which Jester Gundam's pilot uses against him. As a child, his mother managed to get them tickets to move to the Neo-American space colony. However, at the airport...

Good, now go get and listen to R before you accidentally rate Songs for the Deaf as highly as everyone else. You listen to Fu Manchu right? You should check out Kyuss -- Josh Homme's first act. They were among the first desert rockers.

    Unpopular Music Opinions

Of course, right next to a Creed EP and Green Day's entire discography. ETA: I'm pretty sure Creed has never had an EP, but I'm too scared to check.

    Albums You're Digging II

I love me some Thrash but there was a lot of copycat crap around too and it takes quite a bit of sifting to find the real gems. If you are concentrating on the Bay area scene then Blind Illusion's The Sane Asylum is a must. A whole lot different to other banRAB around at the same time.

The Explain Why You Like This Album ('cause i don't understand) Thread

That's because it is. I asked what it's appeal was once & was told it was because they fought that evil organisation Warners to get it released. No mention of the actual music at all. Just that it's seen as some indie moral victory. Personally I just think Wilco are what this band would sound...
