What is a poor or good picture is not open to interpretation. A dvd picture is better quality than a vhs one - that is also not open to debate. You seem to be back pedalling again by saying that viewing VHS does not reduce your enjoyment of the material - this is not what your original post is...

It sounds like a dry air problem. Itchy/sore throats and irritated nasal tissue can be helped out by running a humidifier in your room at night while you sleep. Try this and see if it helps. If not, consult an ENT. Best of luck and let us know how it goes! Lindaru :)
