The ground and ocean, with the exception of units and some resources, are black. I was wondering how to fix this.

When I play Civilization IV: Warlords, the ocean and ground are both black, with the exception of units and some resources. I thought that's how it was supposed to look until I saw some screen shots, now I'm wondering what the problem is. Any ideas?
