You probably have leaking fluid lines or top cylinders. They will need to be replaced. It may cost anywhere from 500 to $1000 dollars depending on what needs to be replaced. Get a friend, raise the top by hand and leave it in place until repaired. Good luck.

The 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines are interference engines. If any valve(s) hit the pistons it will most likely be on the intake side. Remove the valve cover, cam, and rocker arm assembly and you can see if any valves are bent. Good luck.
