Just a comparison here, I've used both DiVX and MPEG on the PPC, DivX was hardly playable (performance issues). Converting it to MPEG yielded very little change in quality, yet required much much much less CPU resources. I never really got any MPEG or DivX movies playing on my Palm Tungsten...

You can try clearing the cache and cookies. Mine started running slow after using it for 6 hours straight (waiting time in ER). When I cleared the cache it went back to normal.
