There is a behavior called "Imprinting", but this is wierd with the fact that this cat is older than when imprinting is used, but maybe the kitten doesn't remember it's mother, and you guys were the only thing that it remembers so that is why it could be imitating your language.

As long as all of the shots are there, then there no reasons that the cat shoudl stay inside.
