I thought the core of it was still intact. To me it's not watered down, it's just Evangelion with a tighter narrative and superior presentation. If some angst was cut, I didn't notice. I got as much out of it as I did the series, if not more.

Viz probably won't skip ahead by 30 volumes. Instead they'll do like they did with Naruto where they release 4 or 5 volumes a month while taking it out of the magazine. That's almost certainly the case since they said it won't start until this fall. They'll do it for three or four months and...
