My iPhone 3GS which I got 2 weeks ago is starting to loose a percentage of it's battery every minute it only happened once and right now is the 2nd time. I don't even use it. It's just sits in my pocket and die

so my iphone was liike 96% battery life when my class started then it went to like 70%, i didnt even use my iphone it was just in my pocket the whole time how did i loose battery? it died like 2 hours later when i didnt even use it.
