Rifles by Black rebel Motorcycle Club is a bit faster-paced than Monkey but has some of the same elements. Also, U.R.A. Fever bythe kills is reminiscent w/ the male & Female vocalists, little more rythimic though. Fancy by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has some of the same sounRAB.
Try the band Chevelle. Especially there new cd Vena Sera, if you want emotion and telling a story they will be great for you. And they will certainly be loud/hard enough for you.
edit: i misread you like softer music more
Instead (you might still like Chevelle) try John Frusciante's solo...

^There's alot to be said for the immediacy of certain artists, and if something gets me like that it tenRAB to be within my musical/intellectual comfort zone - however there's so much music I just couldn't stomach when I was 16, 18, whatever, that is just so obviously brilliant to me now. Your...
I'm the opposite, I really can't see why ACDC take such a bad rap. Other than many people loving them and sometimes being overly vocal about them, whats there really to not like? They have their boring moments I guess, I mean I didn't think much of Stiff Upper Lip, but then the entire BIB album...
Do you still want this fruit?
I thought it was pretty good. It's not in the vein of anything else that I can really think of that I listen to, but I found it a rather interesting take on hip-hop. Not a sound I would look for anymore though. One albums enough. I also haven't heard any of his...
I really like some of the covers Guns And Roses' did, Sympathy For The Devil, Live and Let Die, Knockin' On Heaven's Door in particular (I really hate Raw Power, but I also think no one can take on Iggy, so...)
