No, children inherit a combination of whole genes from the parents. That is how heredity happens. The oRABpring get parts of each chromosome but the breaks occur in between genes to keep such that they stay intact. Genes must be intact units or they don't "work". You can't take part of one gene...

Very. I saw the film first and adored it, thought I'd give the book a try, and the director of the film did well at sticking so close to the book. The book has a few more flashbacks and extra bits on the beginning and end, but apart from that, they're very very similar.

Having given this a bit more thought I would like to suggest a compromise: get rid of the 15 rating and reclassify the films as appropriate, keep the 18 but have a facility for cinemas to offer specific "parent and under-18" screenings of films which are considered too mature to be rated 12 or...

I am tempted to watch (as it seems to be the only film released before last LOtR at the cinema) but Russell Crowe's weird accent is putting me off (especially the noise that came out his mouth in the trailer - my sister and I were peeing ourselves laughing at it).
