I think that could be why it doesn't work for me. It's moved too far away from what I liked about it in the first place. I always though doomy guitars sound more natural with muddy 70s production. Thats another thing thats always put me off , it's like they're trying too hard to recreate something.

I don't think it's a spotless album like Red Roses For Me or If I Should Fall From Grace With God either, but it's still an album I'd recommend to absolutely anyone. The Gentleman Soldier's the only song I feel holRAB the album back that little bit. A couple of favourites of mine off of it...
