The DS Eurovision Thread (Part 8)

Booking the days off is the only answer! I'm a bit nervous about MF final, it's a night shift and they are notoriously difficult to get off at the best of times, let alone on a Saturday night ... but have put in for it anyway :D

    2009 Oscar Nominations.

No Chris Nolan in Best Director category? No TDK in Best Picture? Bloody hell I'm staying well clear of movie forums for the next week or so. Really want Mickey Rourke to win Best Actor, Frost/Nixon for Best Picture, or maybe Slumdog, I'm torn!

    Horror film Recommendations???

The Haunting (1963); not the lame remake. The Legend of Hell House (1973) Martyrs (2008) [REC] (2007) I agree that very few modern movies are genuinely scary; shocking, violent and gory but rarely frightening.

    High Prolactin Levels!!!

I was diagnosed hypothyroid back in Jan '07. I'm still having symptoms despite excellent thyroid levels. I have headaches and I've started having trouble with my vision. I'm going in on Monday for some follow up blood tests including a redo of my prolactin levels, it was around 50 in Jan, that's...

Countdown - so much better these days!

But sweeping generalisations are such fun! :p But you're quite right. Actually I really liked Bob de Caux as well (can't quite place anyone else on your list at the moment). He came across really well, too, playing the game with a smile on his face. He's obviously had his fair share of troubles...

    Overnet Rpc Error

The Matrix Trilogy does it deserve more respect?

I like the Matrix trilogy, the ultimate finale though is a bit too downbeat

    Precious (2009)

Snap! I thought it was good but I don't think it's the kind of movie I'd see twice I was expecting something better. I haven't read the book though

    Pirate the Pirate Bay

If this could become an organized effort, as in certain categories are assigned to different people, it could work out quite well.

    No Interest In Avatar Whatsoever!!!

I was much like the OP in regard to Avatar. . until I sat down in front of my telly and watched it yesterday. OK, the plot and dialogue is far from good, and it's far too hamfisted in its attempts at social comment, but on all levels, it's visually stunning to a level I just didn't expect. It...
