So, my question then becomes... If I go with Cingular/GSM, can I get Cingular service for a phone they don't currently offer through their website?
It seems like there are some "more PDA than phone" PPC's that trade off a little more size for better...

I think it is pretty much your preference. I like the flip phones, just because I can toss it my pocket and go. I've only had one candybar phone and it has a cover on the keys. I would think that the screen, keys could get easily damaged while being exposed, so I stick with a flip phone when I can.
I just downloaded the new version of Fring with SIP support to my E65 (was using an older FRING version until tonight). Configured FRING with my SIP account and it works like a charm! AWESOME!!! Been making cellular to cellular and cellular to landline calls to test it out, works great...
