I personaly felt it deserved to do better. I think the film is spectacular but agree that the effects are what makes it what it is. Well worth watching anyway.

Finally got round to watching this on Channel 4 last night. What a great film & the ending took me totally by surprise. One of the most moving endings I've seen to any film.
