on another note.. the 1050 is also very comfortable... also consider the passenger... not sure about you guys, but my girl loves to ride with me... and the 1050 is very comfortable for the two. The Streetfighter has the same tail of my 1098.... not really passenger dedicated not a big deal...

Buy what you want, I got the 848 because I dont need the 1098. I have no use for the extra power so it wasnt worth it to me. It will be to some and it may be to you but make sure you make the decision that satisfies you because its expensive to do it twice.

My 103 is no noisier than any 96 that I've ridden. In the summer, I run 50w dino oil, which seems much quieter than the 20w50 synthetic I use in the fall and spring.

So to get the bike the way I would want it I'd need a minimum of cams, pipes, air cleaner, bars, a tune, street glide facia on the rear. Put it on. Chrome forks and painted inner fairing are the two best looking mods you can do to a touring bike.

I'd like to see the 1098R geared for a top speed to match the CBR's, or vice versa, and then see how things stack up... like lap times, and 80-100 roll etc.. I agree with the article in that most ppl will never use a 1098R, which makes the base more attractive.
